Dorset Green - The Future

Planning the future Dorset Green roadshows Have your say

Planning the future

Dorset Green wants to grow and develop over the next few decades. It is clear that the Isle of Purbeck has a shortage of jobs local people can have and homes local people can afford. It is also clear that, to grow, Dorset Green needs to attract firms from across Purbeck, Dorset and the UK.

In 2008, a series of consultations led to a Masterplan for the future: a development that respected the environment and provided a range of uses, including shops, leisure provision, residential accommodation and various types of employment. You can look at the Masterplan here.

There has already been some progress. Last year, planning permission was given for space to help small businesses start up. Earlier this year, a new biomass plant on the site that will help save energy and reduce carbon emissions across Dorset was also given the green light.

Now, Dorset Green wants your thoughts on how that plan can be implemented. You can get involved by coming to one of our roadshows that will take place during June or by filling in a questionnaire – click here for more details.

Dorset Green roadshows

Throughout June, there will be a series of roadshows in the places closest to Dorset Green. There, you can find out more about what the Masterplan wanted for the site and give your views on how Dorset Green can be made better.

In particular, we want to know your views on:

  • How Dorset Green can better link with the villages around it.
  • How it can help improve transport in the area.
  • How it can benefit the local environment.
  • What sort of jobs and employment local people you want to see on the site.

So come and join us at the following places in June:

  • Winfrith Village Hall, 1 June, 4pm to 8pm
  • D'Urberville Hall, Wool, 4 June 11am to 3pm and 6 June, 2pm to 9pm
  • East Burton Village Hall, 8 June, 4pm to 8pm
  • Crossways Village Hall, 11 Jun, 10am to 1.30pm
  • Wool Carnival, 25 June
  • The Balcony, Bovington Tank Museum, 30 June, 4pm to 8pm

Later on in the year, we will do a further round of exhibitions showing how our ideas have changed to reflect what people said.

But I can't make these!

We understand not everyone can make these exhibitions. If you want to know what we are asking the public to comment on, please click here.

You can still let us know what you think by filling in the questionnaire – click here to do so. Your response will count, just like everyone else's.
